We crossed from France to England on Thursday, September 24 — Le Pet Shuttle did the heavy lifting on Sally’s Channel crossing — and landed in the Cotswolds for four nights. This leg of the sabbatical had a specific job: a wedding weekend. Which meant the itinerary wrote itself.
The cottage: Charlotte’s Cottage, Oddington
We stayed at Charlotte’s Cottage in Oddington, booked on Airbnb for four nights (September 24–28), and — the theme of this whole trip — confirmed dog-friendly. At roughly $209 a night it was also the most reasonable accommodation of the entire month, and honestly, a charming Cotswolds cottage is exactly the right setting for a wedding weekend with a dog.

The weekend itself
Thursday 9/24: Travel day — France to the Cotswolds via Le Pet Shuttle. Unpack, walk the village, recover.
Friday 9/25: Welcome party, 4:00–8:00 PM. The classic pre-wedding evening: drinks, catching up, and the slow realization of how many people are in town for the same wedding.
Saturday 9/26: Wedding day — ceremony at 2:00 PM, celebrations running until 1:00 AM. A full, proper wedding night in the Cotswolds countryside.
Sunday 9/27: The morning after a wedding that ended at 1 AM deserves no further itinerary.
That’s the whole leg: one cottage, one wedding, one dog who did not get an invitation but came anyway.

Where I stayed
Charlotte’s Cottage, Oddington — Airbnb, four nights (September 24–28), dog-friendly. A charming Cotswolds base for a wedding weekend.
